Releasing Every Believer — Evangelism & Disciples Who Make Disciples
The team at Together for the Illawarra were excited to coordinate the Evangelism Breakfast Forum, which featured two amazing gospel ministers who shared how to activate ordinary believers to share the love of Jesus and disciple the lost. Paul was one of the key speakers.

Dr Paul Bedwell — National Director, Youth for Christ Australia
Dr Paul (PJ) Bedwell trained and worked as a medical doctor before God called him in a different direction. By the time he reached medical school he had become anxious and driven, chasing achievement to prove his worth, and the pressure led him into alcohol and prescription drugs. In the middle of that mess, Jesus met him — not with shame, but with love he did not have to earn.
He walked away from medicine to share the hope he had found with the next generation. In 2021 he joined Youth for Christ Australia to lead What’s Normal, a national initiative tackling addiction, screen dependency and pornography, and he now serves as National Director.
Paul is a husband and a dad to three young children, and he carries the mission personally: he longs for young people across Australia to grow up seeing Christians who will pay any price to take the gospel to the world.
As he puts it, “I know what it’s like to be young, lost… and in desperate need of Jesus.”

The team at Together for the Illawarra has been inspired by the Reaching Australia 2033 Vision Statement.
Our simple goal is that churches in the Illawarra will grow and that more people will find God’s love through Jesus. Our objective is that everyone in the Illawarra will have the opportunity to hear about and follow Jesus Christ by Pentecost Sunday 2033. Our role is to serve as strategic facilitators to help release ‘every-believer evangelism’ in every church in the Illawarra.
